Fellow or Senior Fellow for Technology
The David Rockefeller Studies Program at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is seeking to hire a fellow or senior fellow for technology, with the title depending on the successful candidate’s level of experience. The fellow will be expected to conduct original research on the challenges and opportunities that new technologies create for U.S. national security, economic policy, intelligence policy, and/or foreign policy, and to identify specific steps that policymakers should take in response. This is an extraordinary opportunity for someone looking to shape the national conversation on the intersection of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, quantum computing, or synthetic biology with America’s role in the world.

Chief Human Resources Officer
Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) is responsible for leading all functional areas of human resources. This leader will develop long-term strategic HR initiatives for the organization and provide direction and recommendations for hiring strategies, HR systems support and mission and solutions-oriented partnership across the divisions of the organization. A key measure of success for this individual will be the ability to invigorate a strong innovative culture throughout the organization while ensuring that CFR’s human capital objectives are aligned with its strategic objectives.
Research Associate, International Economics
The Research Associate will support the work of the senior fellow and director of international economics in the areas of international economics, foreign policy, and history.
Research Associate, Korea Studies
CFR’s David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program aims to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions.
As part of the Studies Program, the research associate will support the work of the fellow on projects related to Korea Studies. The research associate will also support the work of other programs within the Studies Program.
Event Manager
The Event Manager will provide support to the Event Operations team based out of the New York office. This is an on-site role.
Associate Director, Building Maintenance
The headquarters of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is housed in the historic landmark Harold Pratt Mansion and state-of-the-art Peterson Conference Center. This combined space is used for several hundred meetings a year.
The Associate Director, Building Maintenance will report to the Deputy Director, Building Maintenance and Engineering. The position will be responsible for managing daily maintenance and repair of all building systems and equipment, as well as for managing the maintenance of the facilities overall appearance. This will include hands on maintenance and repair work on HVAC, boiler, heating, refrigeration, water, and energy systems, etc., managing vendor relations and preparing RFP’s and bid analysis and recommendations.
Associate Podcast Producer
CFR.org is the Council on Foreign Relations’ award-winning website and a leading source of foreign policy analysis. It publishes a mix of resources including podcasts, videos, In Brief and Backgrounder articles, blog posts by CFR fellows, on the record event footage, interactive timelines, and the Daily News Brief newsletter. The Associate Producer role resides within the CFR Digital Content team, which collaborates closely with fellows in CFR’s think tank. The Podcast team produces all podcast and audio products for CFR.org, including but not limited to The President’s Inbox, The World Next Week, The Foreign Affairs Interview, and Why It Matters. The Associate Producer reports to the Director of Podcasting.

Assistant Editor
The Global Communications and Media Relations department is responsible for positioning and promoting CFR and Foreign Affairs via the full spectrum of media, marketing, and public relations. The Publications department, part of the David Rockefeller Studies Program, is responsible for editing and producing CFR’s print and online publications. The Assistant Editor will help support both departments while ensuring CFR style consistency across the institution.
Research Associate, Climate Change Policy
As part of the Studies Program, the research associate will support the work of the David M. Rubenstein Senior Fellow for Energy and Environment.
Research Associate, Asia-Pacific Studies
As part of the Studies Program, the research associate will support a fellow working on issues related to Japan, Korea, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Research Associate, Africa Studies
The Research Associate will work under the direction of the Douglas Dillon Senior Fellow for Africa Studies, focusing on U.S. foreign policy with respect to political and security issues, civil society, democracy, corruption, and religion in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Research Associate, Europe Studies and U.S. Foreign Policy
As part of the Studies Program, the research associate will support three fellows, primarily focused on Europe. Areas of study include: Europe studies and areas of German and European foreign and security policy, transatlantic relations, Russia, European China policy, U.S. foreign policy, transatlantic relations, and European affairs.
Assistant Video Producer
Reporting to the Director of Video, the Assistant Video Producer will take ownership of the Council’s robust events post-production and publishing workflow and help grow the institution’s video footprint across various social media platforms. The successful candidate will curate and create event clips for social media distribution and collaborate closely across departments to help build a vibrant social media community focused on informing our audiences about pressing global issues
Program Assistant, Task Forces, Washington External Affairs, and Executive Office
The Program Assistant, Task Forces, Washington External Affairs, and Executive Office is responsible for supporting the work of the Independent Task Force team, the Washington External Affairs team, and the Executive Office. The position works closely with staff in all three of these areas. This role will primarily be onsite in the Washington, DC office.

As part of the Studies Program, the research associate will support the work of the fellow for trade policy on the areas of trade, international economics, and foreign policy. The research associate will also support the work of other programs within the Studies Program.
